Rasam

Ingredients
Cherry size tamarind-extract water
2 cups water
1 tomato chopped and cooked in the microwave
1 green chilli cut lengthwise
10 curry leaves
1/2 tsp mustard and cumin seeds each
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 tbsp oil/Ghee
Salt to taste

Roast(except cumin seeds) and grind to paste
2 tsp toor dal
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
3 garlic cloves
5 curry leaves
2 red chillies

Method
Heat oil in a pan add mustard and cumin seeds when it splutters add curry leaves add the ground paste then the nicely cooked tomatoes then add tamarind extract,plain water,asafoetida,turmeric powder stir well and bring to a boil.When a nice fuzz forms on the top switch the heat off making sure not to over boil.Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves .
